I Love To Walk A Country Road

I love to walk a country road Walking stick in hand A bird song symphony surrounds me Greater than any worship band. The sun shines down upon my face It lifts a tired heart; My shadow keeps me company As I wander near and far. I love to walk a country road The Kansas wind whispers in my ears And the beauty in this fly-over state Can reduce my thoughts to tears. Dust rises up, moved by my feet The ditch reveals an abundance of tracks Deer, bobcat, coyote, turkey Not here now, but they’ll be back. I love to walk a country road Sharing my heart with my God This time with Him so precious As together we trod Through dirt and rocks, sometimes harrowed fields Or pastures green and open He whispers His Word to my heart And cements the Truth my hope’s in. I love to walk a country road It is a place where I renew my focus As this piece of creation sings to me Another revelation of God’s great opus. ©
