Connections

I went and visited an elderly friend in a nursing home last week. I hadn’t seen her in a number of months, and it took her a while to figure out who I was. Honestly, I’m not sure that she ever truly put together who I am, but that’s okay. In times past, over many years, we have been unerringly close. The Lord pulled us together for a distinct ministry, and our contributions to each other’s lives knit us together tightly. Occasionally we went long periods without communicating, but that didn’t hinder anything, The moment we re-connected, we were as we had always been. There has always been a deep bond of the heart. When I saw my friend last week, the change in her was dramatic. She is in her 90s and she is “winding down” her time in this world. Initially there was no recognition in her eyes for me, but once we started talking Jesus, the connection was made. Suddenly, she “knew” me, maybe not distinctly as Ruth….but she “knew” me – she remembered my heart. It was a beautiful time tog
