Miss You, Dad

 In honor of my dad's birthday in heaven. When Heroes Die We weep and mourn And shed our tears And reflect back Over the years. When he was needed He didn't think twice - He was there to teach And give advice. Lessons were learned And wisdom was shared. So many things That showed he cared. Cars were fixed As was everything - Sometimes with baling wire, Duct tape, and string. He made us laugh And he laughed along. He was often humming Or singing some song. Graham crackers and frosting, Ritz Crackers, too, And so much popcorn That he went through. But now each time We come through the door It isn't like It was before. No more popcorn. No more songs. The recliner is empty Where he belongs. His presence was large And his absence is too, And the hole he left We will have to work through. As I look at my family It's abundantly clear That we're all better people Because he was here. So it's okay When we still cry, Because li
